Historic Village in Ocean View. Located near John
West Park, explore nine buildings and learn how the
villages have grown from small hamlets of
subsistence farmers and seafarers into vibrant

Indian River Lifesaving Station
The Indian River Lifesaving Station was built in 1876
by the United States Lifesaving Service to respond
to the large number of shipwrecks taking place off of
the Delaware coast. Stations like this are considered
the precursor to the modern day Coast Guard.
Visitors can explore the history of shipwrecks,
recieve various DE State Park services, and enjoy
the many special events. The current structure is the
original building that has been restored.
Prince George’s Chapel
This historic chapel was built in 1755 as part of the
Anglican Church. After the American Revolution, this
church became an independent parish in the
Diocese of Delaware before being restored in 1967
and administered as a museum by the State of
Delaware. Visitors can enjoy the barrel-vaulted
ceiling, natural heart of pine planks, and an original
nave from the 1800s.
Salem Church
The origin of this church can be traced to the
organization of a local Methodist society soon after
the American Revolution. By 1790, the society was
joining regularly for worship, holding services in the
open air and in the homes of members. The growth
of the town of Selbyville resulted in the desire for a
new facility. Construction of the present church
commenced in 1911 and was completed on July 14,
1912.
